Affordable Home Workout Equipment and Gear: My Top Picks

It’s that time of year where everyone jumps on the bandwagon with new year resolutions to get fit and healthy. Whether you are fully ready to kick off 2021 with a new fitness routine and healthy regimen, or you’re simply thinking about it, I wanted to share my top picks for affordable home workout equipment and gear.

A fitness junkie myself, all of the home workout equipment and gear I’m recommending here are products I use and love. Some of these workout accessories I bought early in the pandemic when we were all stuck at home and couldn’t get to the gym to workout. Other things – like my yoga mat and props – I’ve had and used for years.

The bottom line is all of this fitness gear and equipment is affordable, practical, and easy to store, which is great if you live in a small space or don’t want to see your equipment laying around when you’re not working out.

So, are you ready to learn more about my top picks for affordable home workout equipment and gear? If so, keep scrolling. However you decide to tackle your fitness and health goals, I commend you as you begin your wellness journey!

Affordable Home Workout Equipment and Gear

Check out my top picks for all of the affordable home workout equipment and gear you need to jumpstart your fitness routine.

1. I was turned onto these Gymbandit resistance bands (currently unavailable, so check out Alta) by Jules of Om and the City. There are so many great workouts you can do with these bands. Plus, you can easily pack them when you travel to maintain your fitness routine when you’re on the road.

2. I’ve been practicing yoga for years and have worked my way through various mats. This Gaiam mat is one of my favorites. Not only is it very affordable at $29.98, but it’s also cushiony and beautiful. (Who says yoga mats can’t be pretty and functional?!)

3. Another yoga prop I have, and love is a yoga strap. This is really useful if you aren’t that flexible or just need a little extra help with stretching and getting into certain yoga poses.

4. An exercise ball is a great addition to any home gym because you can do so much with it. I love using it for a challenging ab workout and sometimes I even sit on it when I’m at my desk to engage my core.

5. I have recommended this Bala weighted bangle set a few times now because I love it that much! It’s so easy to wrap them around your ankles or wrists for an extra challenge during a power walk or run. Or try adding them to your pilates or barre workouts to feel that extra burn. Plus they come in fun pastel colors!

6. One of the most important things you need for any workout is a pair of sneakers that support you. I love these Adidas sneakers because they are great for my workouts and for my daily walks. (Plus they match my winter coat so I can be fit and fashionable!)

7. Affordable home workout gear is just as important as the equipment. Why? Because wearing comfortable, fun, and colorful workout gear can motivate you to move your body. I’m a fan of Athleta in general and I love this sports bra which comes in multiple colors and gives you the support you need.

8. Who doesn’t love a pop of color? I’m an Old Navy addict, and this fleece hybrid quilted jacket will keep me inspired (and fashionable) during my outdoor walks and runs.

9. If you only get one yoga prop beside a yoga mat to help you with your practice, it should be two yoga blocks. Yoga blocks are helpful to use for so many different poses, including for balance and restorative poses, and to bring the floor closer to you. I consider myself somewhat of an advanced yogi, and I still use my blocks all the time.

10. Of all the affordable pieces of home workout gear and equipment my husband and I have, I think our dumbbell set gets the most use. We bought this dumbbell set way before the pandemic – (before there was a run on free weights and toilet paper!) and we are so glad we did. I use these free weights for many strength, barre, and toning workouts multiple times a week. They are worth the investment.

11. If you are in the market for an at-home, high-tech stationary bike (or it’s safe to attend spinning classes in a studio), you’ll need clip-in, indoor cycling shoes. These are my favorite. They come with the compatible cleat to clip into most indoor cycling bikes.

12. My husband actually bought this resistance band set for us, and it’s been a great, affordable addition to our at-home workout equipment. This set comes with bands with five different resistance levels (30 lbs – 10 lbs). With resistance bands, you can either focus on specific muscle groups or use them for a full-body workout.

13. I bought the Sweet Sweat Waist Trimmer when we were in lockdown. It was an impulse purchase, but now I use it all the time and love it! The band helps me sweat and generate more heat. Plus, it also reminds me to engage my core during workouts.

14. Last but not least, I’m already looking toward spring with my workout gear, and this year, I’m all about color. So bring on the tangerine-colored workout leggings!

I hope you found this list of affordable home workout gear and equipment products helpful!

When I started investing in workout equipment and gear for our home, I bought several products at a time. There is no rush. Pick a couple of things that you think you will really use and start with those.

The great thing about working out and building a fitness routine is that the more you do it, the more you want to keep going. It’s a lifestyle choice with plenty of workout gear and equipment to help you succeed.
