I often wait until Amazon Prime Day to purchase my top picks because let’s be honest, who doesn’t want to pay for something at half price when you have the opportunity?

What is Amazon Prime Day?
First thing’s first, what is Amazon Prime Day? I’m guessing most of you know what this is, but in case you’re a neophyte to Amazon, Prime Day is a time period where Amazon slashes prices on tons of products with an epic sale and offers the best deals of the year.
It’s kind of like the sales they do on Black Friday, so I joke that it’s Christmas in July! (Apparently celebrating Christmas in July is really a thing now, but that’s a topic for another post!)
This year, Prime day is actually going to be 2 whole days, starting July 15th at 12 AM PST (3 AM EST). But deals actually start even before Prime Day officially begins!
Becoming an Amazon Prime Member
Here’s the one catch about Amazon Prime Day. To take advantage of the deals, you need to be an Amazon Prime member.
If you’re thinking, oh well, I don’t want to sign up to become a Prime member, so I don’t care about this sale, here’s the beautiful thing about Amazon. The site allows you to sign up for Amazon Prime for a 30-Day Free Trial.
So basically, you can sign up for Amazon Prime right now, take advantage of all the Prime Day deals, and then cancel your membership without paying a cent. AND, they still honor all of the purchases you made during the sale and give you the discount. So, it’s kind of a win-win, am I right?

Why Shopping on Amazon Prime Day is Worth It
You still might be thinking, what’s the big deal about Amazon Prime Day? I get good deals on the site all the time. Why do I need to go out of my way and shop on the site specifically during this 48-hour window?
I’ll tell you why it’s worth it. Let’s say you’ve been toying with the idea of buying an instant pot. It’s super popular now, you’ve been seeing tons of people using it, and it’s a no brainer for getting food on the table fast. But it prices out at $99, a little more than you’re willing to spend when you’re not sure how much you’ll use it or if you’ll really enjoy having this product.
Well, how would you feel if the price was suddenly sliced almost in half? Now it doesn’t seem like such a risk, right? (As it turns out, this instant pot was the #1 seller last year in the United States during last year’s Amazon Prime Day.) And it’s on my list this year!
This is what I love about Prime Day. It gives me an opportunity to buy things I’ve been eyeing and want to try out but just haven’t been willing to pay full price for the product. Now I get the opportunity to try things at a huge discount, and guess what? If I’m not happy with the product, I can still return the product and get my money back.
So, buying products during Amazon Prime Day seems like a no brainer, right?

And, If you’re a huge reader like me, (I typically read 4-6 books a month), then you’ll want to consider Kindle Unlimited. I have it and love how many free books I can read per month now. It’s been a great way for me to keep reading and saving at the same time.
This DNA test is literally half price right now, so if this has been something you want to do, I highly recommend getting it now before it sells out.
People swear by their Vitamix blenders. This is another big-ticket item I’ve held off on purchasing at full price but now I can get it at a $90 savings so it’s on my list for sure!
