The Monthly Round-Up: January 2021

It’s been a while since I’ve done a monthly round-up, so I thought there’s no better time to dive back into this series than with January 2021, the start of a new year.

And oh, what a start to the year it’s been!

If you were thinking we could just ease into January 2021 after the year we had, well, then you had wishful thinking like me, and so many of us.

That said…things do seem to be settling down in Washington, so in this post, I’d like to focus on some positive things that are bringing me joy and will hopefully do the same for you.

Keep reading for a round-up of all of my favorite things in January 2021 plus recommendations to keep you occupied and entertained during the cold winter days and nights.

January 2021 Favorites

1. With the start of a new year, I always think about ways to freshen up my home. My husband and I are getting ready to move soon, so we aren’t investing in any furniture, but this chic side table from Target caught my eye. I think it would make for a great nightstand too!

2. January 2021 has already been a big month for us. We just celebrated my husband’s 40th birthday and I got him the Apple watch. He is completely obsessed with it! Now I have my eye on one too and this dusty rose colored wristband is perfect for spring.

3. It’s only January but I’m already thinking about outdoor furniture! This geometric style rug, (another Target find, can you tell I love Target?!) reminds me of the American Southwest and a recent trip I took to Santa Fe. (If you haven’t been, check out my Santa Fe travel guide and Food guide before you go!)

4. Sticking with the geometric theme, how cool are these modern ceramic vases? (Yes, also Target!)

5. Sneakers are the new stilettos, and these are on my radar for spring.

6. This soft, chunky, white throw is by far the most popular item I’ve recommended over the past few months, and I can see why. I think everyone just wants to lay on the couch and hide underneath a blanket until all of this madness ends!

7. I’m in the market for new sunglasses and Warby Parker is always my go-to because they have the best customer service and quality products at a reasonable price point.

8. Let’s be honest, the tie-dye fad isn’t going anywhere anytime soon so you might as well invest in a piece or two. This is the tie-dye sweatshirt that I haven’t taken off since I got it.

9. I’ve been a fan of Glennon Doyle’s for a long time. Her new book, Untamed is full of the wisdom and advice that we need to hear right now.

10. I love the simplicity of this outdoor patio chair.

11. Carhartt has been around forever (especially in my industry, worn by the crew on TV and film sets) but there’s something about this winter hat that looks cool and fresh.

12.This Brazilian Bum Bum cream literally smells like you are on a vacation in the tropics. And it’s great for that annoying cellulite!

13. I found these affordable White booties this fall on Amazon and they literally go with everything.

14. Combat those winter blues with a pop of color like this ribbed coatigan. (Yep, that’s a thing now. coat + cardigan = coatigan!)

If You Have Some Healthy Resolutions…

I’d be remiss if I didn’t recommend some things to help you on your wellness journey – whether you’ve made healthy new year’s resolutions or you’re just looking to find more balance in your life.

Once a year, I do a week-long whole-food, plant-based cleanse to reset my diet. I prefer this cleanse over others because you eat real food for every meal.

If you’re not ready for a cleanse but you want to start eating healthier, check out my post about changing to a mostly plant-based diet without giving up meat.

And one of my most popular posts to date is about all of the benefits of dry January. Of course, for many of us, that ship sailed after the storming of the Capitol, but fear not. There’s always February! My husband and I plan to stop drinking for the month of February. Let me know if you want to join us. (And PS, it’s a shorter month than January!)

If one of your new year’s resolutions every year is to go on a diet, then you should listen to the latest podcast on The Happiness Lab titled, Feed Yourself Like You’d Feed a Loved One.

Something that we should be talking about more is our mental health. Personally, I’ve experienced a lot of anxiety this past year. To help with this, I’ve been using CBD products. After trying out many brands, my go-to is Equilibria. This is the first company I’ve found that focuses on your well-being, setting you up with a dosage specialist to figure out the right CBD regimen for you, because everyone is different.

I’m so excited because the company has just launched a new subscription box of topical products. My favorite is the relief cream. It helps with my aching muscles after a hard workout and is also great for cramps during that time of the month. Use the code Letsbemerry for 15% off your first order!

And if you just need a pure distraction from everything going on in the world, I highly recommend getting sucked into Cobra Kai on Netflix. It’s a TV series based on the original Karate Kid movies. The nostalgia I get from watching it is super comforting.

That’s it for my recommendations for January 2021!

Stay warm, stay safe, and wear those masks!
