Things to Do in November: The Monthly Round-Up

It’s a bit strange to be writing about things to do in November while sitting in a café in balmy and humid Chennai, India.

If I was in New York right now, I’m sure I’d be wearing a chunky wool sweater, sipping a Matcha latte in a cozy cafe, and lamenting the fact that November is the month when the sun starts to set way too early for my liking.

But instead, I’m in India, sitting here in a summer dress and flip-flops.

I’m not complaining!

It’s nice to be in eighty-five-degree weather in November. 🙂

But I’m also feeling some nostalgia for what it’s like back home this time of year.

The leaves are turning colors and everyone’s starting to gear up for the holidays. There’s an exciting energy in the air.

Whether you’re a homebody or you love to get out and explore, there are plenty of fun things to do in November.

So let’s get to it!

Ok, I’m going to lead off with arguably the biggest thing to do in November (at least in the States), and that’s celebrating Thanksgiving!

My husband and I love hosting during the holidays, so we are sad that we won’t be home this year to celebrate with family and friends.

If you are hosting the holiday but stressed out about putting together a Pinterest worthy tablescape, check out this new company that will do all the hard work for you.

And I always rely on this magazine for simple but delicious Thanksgiving recipes.

I think we could all use more laughter in our lives right now. If you live in NYC, head to the NY Comedy Festival to see tons of comedians including headliners like Trevor Noah and Stephen Colbert.

If staying home is more your speed, then this sweatshirt is for you.

It’s time to start planning your warm-weather getaways. Check out my travel guide to this South American gem.

Living in South India? Then I highly recommend spending a long weekend at this resort, in between Trivandrum and Kanyakumari. It was the perfect place for peace, tranquility, and relaxation.

Everyone is abuzz with the fact that we’re entering the last two months of the DECADE. Why is there so much pressure on us to keep hustling and achieving and striving for more? What if we’re content with things as they are? This article makes a solid case for just that.

After watching this documentary on Netflix, another thing I’m doing this November is transitioning to a plant-based diet. Here’s a great resource for vegan recipes.

This sweater. I just want to wrap myself up in it all winter. (Well, if I wasn’t in India that is!)

It’s time to Hygge up your home! A scented candle is a great start.

Are you following Hitha Palepu’s #5smartreads? If not, you should be!

If your idea of great things to do in November includes curling up by the fire with a page-turner, you’re speaking my language! I just finished this prep-school murder mystery and loved it. Next on my list is Ali Wong’s Dear Girls, one of the books on my fall reading list.

I’m all for to-do lists but this article sheds light on the recent phenomena of influencers posting their daily to-do lists on Instagram and what it’s doing to us.

Self-care is critical, especially during the cold, dark days of winter. If the season’s got you feeling down, here are some tips to help you cope with the winter blues.

And most importantly, November is a great time for giving thanks. So one of the most important things I’m doing this month is giving thanks for all of the things I do have with a 30-day gratitude challenge.

Wherever in the world you are, I hope you have a great November!

And if you found these tips and recommendations helpful, feel free to share it with your friends!
