Where to Stay in the Catskills During Covid-19: Antrim Streamside

Have you thought about planning a trip to the Catskills but don’t know where to stay, especially now during COVID-19?

If you answered yes, then this post is for you.

My husband and I just came back from a weekend trip in the Western Catskills and we stayed at a hotel that is ideally set up for the pandemic. (It happens to be a great hotel regardless of its suitability for the pandemic, but more on that later.)

The hotel we stayed at is Antrim Streamside in Livingston Manor.

I can’t wait to tell you more about this gem nestled in the Catskills, so let’s get to it!

Antrim Streamside: The Perfect Place to Stay in the Catskills During COVID-19

My husband and I knew we wanted to take a weekend getaway to the Catskills, but we weren’t quite sure where to stay. Our main requirement was accommodations where we could easily follow all of the COVID-19 protocols.

With a little research online, I discovered the Antrim Streamside resort. It didn’t take me long to learn that this resort is an ideal set up, especially now during the pandemic!

Antrim Streamside is located on the banks of the Willewemoc Creek, a 5-minute drive from Livingston Manor, New York. The property was a smaller bed and breakfast in the past and re-opened after a full renovation and expansion as Antrim Streamside in 2016. (The property’s previous owners, Andrea Reynolds and Sean Plunkett have quite a colorful history involving Claus Von Bulow which you can read more about here.)

The accommodations consist of 4 cabins and 2 cottages, spread out on over 100 acres of land. While the rates aren’t super cheap, averaging $225 per night in a cabin (which can accommodate 2-3 people), they are certainly in line with what other resorts in the area are charging.

The property is ideally suited for people who want to travel during the COVID-19 pandemic because there are no communal indoor areas on the property and the resort can only host up to 20  guests at a time.  There’s no housekeeping (unless you need it) and all of the lodgings are spread out, so socially distancing is easy!

Booking a stay here is like having your own private country retreat.

All of the accommodations come with fully stocked kitchens, so you can cook every meal in your room if you’re nervous about eating out. And the continental breakfast that comes with your stay (yogurt, fruit, granola, coffee & tea)  is left in the kitchen ahead of time.

It’s really the ideal set up for a getaway during COVID-19.

The Accommodations at Antrim Streamside

The interiors of the cabins at Antrim Streamside are so cute! Each one has a king or queen size bed (depending on the cabin you choose), a kitchen area, and a small dining area. The two cottages are larger in size, with 2 and 3 bedrooms, plus full-size kitchens and living areas.

The cabins are ideal if you’re traveling as a couple. The cottages are great if you’re a larger family or if you’ve created your own ‘COVID bubble’ with some friends and want to stay somewhere together.

One of the things my husband and I really appreciated about Antrim Streamside is the attention to detail with the design of the accommodations.

I would describe the décor as ‘country cabin’ chic with a farmhouse/industrial vibe. This is exactly how I would want to decorate my place if I had a home in the country!

We particularly loved the bathrooms and appreciated how many shelves and counter space there was to actually put our toiletries out. (It is such a pet peeve of mine when uber designed hotels have no counter space or hooks in the bathrooms. Bathrooms need to be functional!)

We also loved the small touches added to the room including a canvas bag we could use for the weekend, a lantern for sitting outside in the evening, and local guide books and maps for exploring.

The Amenities at Antrim Streamside

There are actually quite a few amenities at Antrim Streamside.

You can go hiking on the property and swimming in the Willowemoc stream.

Antrim Streamside also has a remote concierge (perfect for this pandemic era!) who can help arrange a variety of activities for you, including fly fishing, hiking, bird watching, private yoga lessons, on-site massage treatments and tours of Beaver Lake Farm, which is adjacent to Antrim Streamside.

We opted for a tour of Beaver Lake with the farmer, Jessica Campbell. We felt so lucky that we got to bond with some of the farm animals!

The town of Livingston Manor, near Antrim Streamside

If you book a stay at Antrim Streamside, you are near the adorable towns, Livingston Manor and Roscoe.

Livingston Manor has everything you need in a small country town. There are bespoke boutiques, a properly stocked wine store, and an old-school bakery. I also recommend Main Street Farm, a general store/market that sells local products. (They also make great breakfast and lunch sandwiches.) There are also outdoor outfitters and a couple of great restaurants with ample outdoor seating so you can feel safe while enjoying your food.

If you make it to Roscoe, you must check out the Prohibition Distillery. They do tastings, serve drinks and food in a large outdoor area and have live music on the weekends.

Nice to see several real photos of the Orchards Cabin. Gives me a better idea of the room when I make my reservation.

What a great choice and how lucky for you and your fiancé that you are getting married there! We were also there in July. I wonder if we were there at the same time?! 🙂
