The Monthly Round-Up: September

Holy smokes. It’s September. How did that happen?! Summer went by quickly, but I’m excited to share with you my monthly round-up for September.

School is back in session, people are back at work and there is a hustle-bustle in the air.

There is something about this season that motivates me to reassess my goals and prioritize what I want to accomplish for the rest of the year and beyond.

What about you? How are you feeling? Are you ready for fall and the feelings of inspiration and motivation that it brings? Or do you want to hold onto summer a little longer?

If you’re looking for encouragement to work on your own goals, check out Rachel Hollis’ Last 90 Days journal for inspiration.

While this month is chock full of responsibilities, September is also a great time to get out and explore. And of course, don’t forget about shopping for a couple of new stylish pieces to add to your fall wardrobe!

So let’s dive into the monthly round-up of September, which includes everything I’m looking forward to right now and further into the fall.

The Monthly Round-Up: September Edition

The Goldfinch, the sweeping novel by acclaimed author Donna Tartt has been made into a movie. I’m excited to see how they translated this epic story into a film.

Also, Downton Abbey, on the big screen!

Loving these black and white espadrilles and black mules. They are the perfect transitional shoes for fall!

Anyone else besides me ready for the cool, crisp days of fall? I can’t wait to throw on a chunky knit sweater and spend cozy nights by the fire, curled up with a good book.

These are the titles at the top of my reading list in this month’s round-up:

ICYMI – In this monthly round-up, I wanted to share some big changes I’m making to help support our environment and fight climate change. Why? Because I can’t continue to ignore the stories about what we are doing to our planet.

But I know not everyone can give up beef. That’s ok. Start with something small like meatless Mondays. And If you don’t want to give up beef but want to be more thoughtful in your approach to eating meat, I highly recommend watching the Chef’s Table episode on Netflix about the butcher Dario Cecchini.

Also on the topic, Jonathan Safran Foer’s new book, We Are the Weather, comes out on September 17th.

Speaking of eating less meat, I’m looking forward to trying some of the recipes in Ellie Bullen’s Global Vegan cookbook (Only available in the Kindle edition right now in the US).

Also, did you know Ellie has a twin sister who is a travel blogger? I follow both Ellie and Lauren on Instagram and love their inspiring photos.

September is a great month to travel because the crowds are gone but the weather is still pretty spectacular in many places, so I had to share the places on my radar in this monthly round-up. If I manage to squeeze in time for a long weekend getaway, these places are at the top of my list:

If you live in NYC like me and are looking for things to do closer to home, check out my fall bucket list.

I am a HUGE fan of Marie Forleo. She finally came out with a book, Everything is Figureoutable and she’s touring this fall. Check her website for cities where she will be appearing.

If you’re looking for a fun fall festival to go to, check out Bourbon and Beyond. My husband is a huge bourbon lover so it’s only a matter of time before we end up at this festival ourselves!

Closer to home, I can’t wait to see the photography exhibit, Photoville in Brooklyn September 12th – 22nd.

This article warmed my heart!

Have you guys tasted Hu Chocolate? My masseuse gave me a bar as a gift and now I’m completely hooked. The dark chocolate with cashew butter is my favorite!

I do a decent job of taking care of my skin except when it comes to my hands, so I’m excited to try Beauty Pie’s Super Retinol Anti-Aging Hand Treatment. It comes highly recommended by blogger Grace Atwood and she knows her beauty products.
